ANNA VERBENETS

A passion which creates a special bond between the artist and nature.

Saying that Anna Verbenets dedicates her life to art would be a gross understatement. Having obtained a Masters degree in Fine Arts and Pedagogy at the prestigious Krivoy Rog Fine Arts University, and currently reading a PhD on the same matter, Anna is a clear cut example of a person devoting one’s life – heart, mind and soul – to nurture a passion. A passion, as she explains, which creates a special bond between her, the artist, and nature.

Her art pieces have been admired all around Europe: Austria, Italy, Sicily, Switzerland, Ukraine, Germany, Russia, the UK and naturally Malta and Gozo. Her beautiful pictures featuring portraits and animal portraits, still lives, landscapes and sceneries hang on walls in every part of the globe, from the US to the Gulf and many other countries in between.

Oil Paintings, watercolours & pastels – the techniques Anna is best known for – are perhaps also the techniques which best grant the artist a sense of satisfaction. The inspiration to draw transmutes itself into a positive inner feeling which the artist aches to communicate to others through her art.

EVERYDAY BEAUTY
“The natural beauty of everyday life is enough to hold my attention.”

What is it which captures Anna’s muse and makes her brushes flow lithely over canvas? “It is simple – the natural beauty of everyday life is enough to hold my attention,” she explains. For if one fails to see the beauty in the little things, one can never hope to achieve the same detail in art as in real life.

TO BUDDING ARTISTS
“It necessitates dedication, commitment and above all, love”

To budding Maltese artists, Anna has a few words of advice: painting is very much like a roller-coaster. Its ups and downs serve to highlight the importance of knowledge, observation, work and practice. But like any true vocation, it also necessitates dedication, commitment and above all, love, in its purest form.
